The husks of the seeds of the psyllium (Plantago ovata) plant – commonly referred to simply as “psyllium” – have excellent expansion and water retention characteristics, allowing them to improve the condition of the digestive tract and soften stools. Psyllium also surrounds and encloses bile acid (ultimately helping to lower cholesterol) and harmful substances that cause lifestyle diseases, allowing them to be excreted from the body.
